Description

okay! a long explanation about this. (Sorry TTwTT)

This drawing is before the independence argentinian wars (1810-1824), when Argentina was still a spanish colony.

But why are UK and France behind them here?

well, because they were the "responsibles" of the argentinian independence.

In 1793, Spain went to war against the new French Republic, which had overthrown and executed its Bourbon king, Louis XVI. The war polarised the country in an apparent reaction against the gallicised elites. Defeated in the field, Spain made peace with France in 1795 and effectively became a client state of that country; the following year, it declared war against Britain and Portugal. A disastrous economic situation, along with other factors, led to the abdication of the Spanish king in favour of Napoleon's brother, Joseph Bonaparte.

Meanwhile, the British Empire launched two invasions of Buenos Aires in 1806-07, but the criollo population repelled both attempts.

Returning to Spain the foreign puppet monarch, Joseph Bonaparte, was widely regarded with scorn. On 2 May 1808, the people of Madrid began a nationalist uprising against the French army, one of many across the country, marking the beginning of what is known to the Spanish as the War of Independence.

The French invasion proved disastrous for Spain's economy, and left a deeply divided country that was prone to political instability for more than a century. The power struggles of the early 19th century led to the loss of all of Spain's colonies in Latin America, with the exception of Cuba and Puerto Rico.

On 25 May 1810, after confirmation of the rumors on the overthrow of King Ferdinand VII by Napoleon, citizens of Buenos Aires created the First Government Junta (May Revolution)

About Argentina CLOTHES:

Argentina wears the typical gaucho clothes. But... What is a GAUCHO?

A gaucho could be described as a loose equivalent to the North American "cowboy"

The gaucho plays an important symbolic role in the nationalist feelings of this region. The image of the free gaucho is often contrasted to the slaves who worked the northern Brazilian lands.

Like the North American cowboys, gauchos are generally reputed to be strong, honest, silent types, but proud and capable of violence when provoked. There is, perhaps, more of an air of melancholy about the classic gaucho than the classic cowboy.

The first recorded uses of the term date from around the time of Argentine independence in 1816.

Gauchos were generally nomadic, and lived on the pampas, the plain that extends north from Patagonia. Residing outside of the growing urban centres and farming settlements, these skilled riders lived off the land often willingly sharing their food with other travelers. Most gauchos were either criollo (South Americans of Spanish or Portuguese ancestry) or mestizo (of mixed Spanish and Native American blood), but the term applies equally to people of other European, African, or mixed ancestry.

Gauchos dressed quite distinctly from North American cowboys, and used bolas, also known as boleadoras (three leather bound rocks tied together with approximately three feet long leather straps). The typical gaucho outfit would include a poncho (which doubled as saddle blanket and also as sleeping gear), a facón (large knife), a rebenque (leather whip), and loose-fitting trousers called bombachas, belted with a tirador, or a chiripá, a piece of cloth used in the fashion--but not the function--of a diaper. Several of these items were British imports into the area; for example, bombachas were originally made in Turkey. In the wintertime, gauchos wore heavy wool ponchos to protect against cold.
